Jean-Claude Katende, president of the African Association for Human Rights, calls on Joseph Kabila to abandon armed struggle and return to democratic resistance. He believes the former president will not win the conflict he is waging against the Congolese authorities, according to his public statement reported by Mediacongo.

The president of the African Association for Human Rights (Asadho), Jean-Claude Katende, is calling on former Congolese president Joseph Kabila to return to democratic resistance. He believes the former head of state “will not win the war he is waging against Congo for the benefit of Rwanda”, in a statement made public on Sunday, according to Mediacongo.

Jean-Claude Katende believes the course of the conflict will depend on four factors: Rwanda's intentions, the reaction of the Congolese people, that of countries in the sub-region and that of the United States. He directly calls on Joseph Kabila to “lay down his arms” and warns that Congolese people who follow him could be disappointed, according to Mediacongo.

The statement comes after Joseph Kabila's accusation against Félix Tshisekedi, published on 29 October, followed by the dissolution of Joseph Kabila's PPRD by the Council of State on 30 October, according to the publications concerned.
