The spokesman of the Central African government, Évariste Ngamana, announced on Saturday 7 November 2026 the banning of the march by the Republican Bloc for the Defence of the Constitution (BRDC), planned for 13 November in Bangui against the high cost of living and the fuel shortage, on the grounds that the platform has no legal status.
The Central African government has banned the march by the Republican Bloc for the Defence of the Constitution (BRDC) planned for 13 November in Bangui, its spokesman, Évariste Ngamana, announced at a press conference held on Saturday 7 November in the capital, Radio Ndeke Luka reports. The political platform intended to mobilise its supporters to denounce the high cost of living and the fuel shortage in the country.
To justify the ban, Évariste Ngamana says the BRDC does not have a legal status allowing it to organise a public demonstration, and considers that the platform carries out its activities illegally.
The ban comes after a month of mobilisation against the fuel price rise in Bangui: a general strike had been planned for 8 October, and the BRDC had launched its call to demonstrate against the high cost of living on 30 October. The capital also remains paralysed by a fuel shortage.
