Benjamin Netanyahu called on his supporters to vote for Likud, saying opponents were trying to “steal” the Israeli election. The prime minister was responding to the arrest of three Arab financial officials suspected of holding envelopes of cash, according to Egypt Independent.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on his supporters to vote for Likud, denouncing attempts to “steal” the election after three people were arrested in southern Israel. He made the appeal in a live broadcast, Egypt Independent reports.

Israeli police announced the arrest of three financial officials from the United Arab List, who were found with envelopes containing money. Netanyahu described the case as “criminal” and urged his voters to go to the polls, citing higher turnout among the Arab community in the south than among Jewish voters.

The Israeli election was held on 27 October to decide between Netanyahu and his rival Gadi Eisenkot (the vote in Israel).
