Stan Wawrinka, a former world number three and three-time Grand Slam winner, has ended his professional career after losing in the first round of the ATP 500 tournament in Basel. The 41-year-old Swiss lost 7-5, 7-6 (7/2) to Czech world number 21 Jiri Lehecka on Tuesday, reports Vanguard.

Wawrinka won the Australian Open in 2014 against Rafael Nadal, the French Open in 2015 against Novak Djokovic and the US Open in 2016, again against the Serb.
