South Africa were all out for 329 in their first innings of the third Test against Australia in Cape Town, after reaching 158 without losing a wicket. The Proteas then lost six wickets for 232 runs before the end of the day, giving Australia a slight advantage in the cricket match, the Daily Maverick reports.
Marques Ackerman scored 95 off 94 balls, with 12 fours and two sixes. Aiden Markram added 78, while David Bedingham, Ryan Rickelton and Marco Jansen scored 50, 42 and 52 respectively. Mitchell Starc led Australia’s fightback with six wickets for 72 runs, including three in four balls with the second new ball. Nathan Lyon took two wickets.
Australia had seemed to be struggling at lunch, but the South African batters took increasingly many risks after the opening partnership between Ackerman and Markram. The series had already seen Marco Jansen take four wickets against Australia on 21 October, before restricting the same team to 99 runs in Gqeberha on the same day, according to previous results published by the Daily Maverick.
