Botswana international goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko is negotiating his departure from Siwelele FC, a South African football club based in Bloemfontein. The information was reported by South African outlet Soccer Laduma, cited by Weekendpost.
The 32-year-old joined Siwelele in June on a two-year contract. He played in the club’s first three league matches in August, conceding five goals: two against TS Galaxy, one against Milford and two against AmaZulu. He has not played since.
According to club sources cited by Weekendpost, the departure of coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who recruited the goalkeeper, complicated his situation. Seema subsequently joined the club’s development teams as a Diski Challenges coach. The separation between Phoko and Siwelele is reportedly being discussed amicably, and an official announcement is expected once negotiations are concluded.
Phoko attracted attention during the Africa Cup of Nations with Botswana before signing in South Africa. The Botswana national team is also being followed in the news about football in Botswana.
