Kylian Mbappé praised Harry Kane’s 2026 Ballon d’Or win, saying the English striker deserved the honour and was among the great players. The Frenchman finished second, while Lamine Yamal came third, the Daily Post reports.

Kylian Mbappé, runner-up in the 2026 Ballon d’Or, believes English striker Harry Kane deserves the trophy he won ahead of him. “He deserves it, he’s a great player,” the Real Madrid player told Athlon Sports, according to the Daily Post.

Mbappé finished the season with 25 goals in La Liga, 15 in the Champions League and 10 for France at the 2026 World Cup. He became the competition’s all-time leading scorer with 22 goals, but Real Madrid won no major trophies and France did not win the World Cup.

Lamine Yamal, a Spanish player for FC Barcelona, finished third. Mbappé, who arrived at the ceremony after scoring twice in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou, was among the first to congratulate Harry Kane, the Daily Post reports.

Mbappé’s reaction came after Harry Kane’s win ahead of him, announced on 26 October. Kane also won the Gerd Müller Trophy.
