Brazil’s federal police seized Flávio Bolsonaro’s passports after Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes barred him from leaving the country. The son of former president Jair Bolsonaro denounced the measure as intimidation after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s re-election, Zambianobserver reports.

Brazil’s federal police seized the passports of Flávio Bolsonaro, a presidential candidate and son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, after the re-election of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, according to Zambianobserver. The order was issued on Sunday evening by Alexandre de Moraes, a judge on the Federal Supreme Court, and bars Flávio Bolsonaro from leaving Brazil.

Police arrested him in the street as he was leaving his father’s home, where the former president is under house arrest. In a video posted on Monday morning, Flávio Bolsonaro said he would hand over his passports and defend himself against what he considered an attempt at intimidation. He disputed that the decision was based on a comment by his brother Eduardo rather than on his own remarks.

The candidate also challenged the conduct of the election and accused Lula of using public funds to buy votes. He said he intended to seek the annulment of Lula’s winning candidacy, Zambianobserver reports.

The measure follows Flávio Bolsonaro’s challenge to the election after his travel ban. On 27 October, he then gave up seeking to annul Lula’s victory.
