After winning his first Ballon d’Or, Harry Kane posted on X a phrase calling for people to work in silence and let success speak, interpreted as an indirect response to Kylian Mbappé. The English striker scored 73 goals during the 2025-2026 season, according to La Nouvelle Tribune.

Harry Kane posted a message on the social network X calling for people to “work hard in silence” and let “success make the noise”, after winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or. The English striker’s phrase was interpreted as an indirect response to Kylian Mbappé’s communications before the ceremony, reports La Nouvelle Tribune.

The Real Madrid striker had given several interviews to defend his chances and said that no player had had a better season than him, even going so far as to say: “For the Ballon d’Or, I vote for myself.” Kane, meanwhile, had been more discreet and scored 73 goals in all competitions for his club during the 2025-2026 season.

Harry Kane’s message came after his triumph ahead of Kylian Mbappé, announced on 26 October, and his public thanks to those close to him on 27 October. The English striker had also won the Gerd Müller Trophy, according to an announcement published on the same day.
