Ranked third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or behind Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal says his time will come. In a message posted after the ceremony, the Barcelona forward says he wants to improve at his own pace, focus on his club’s fixtures and retain his ambition to win the trophy one day, according to Senenews and La Nouvelle Tribune.

Lamine Yamal, the Spanish forward for FC Barcelona, said his time will come after finishing third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or, behind Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé. “Good things take time,” the player wrote in a message posted the day after the ceremony, according to Senenews and La Nouvelle Tribune.

The 19-year-old said he wanted to move forward without rushing, confident in the path he is building. The Kopa Trophy winner also congratulated the various winners at the ceremony, reports La Nouvelle Tribune.

Yamal said he now wanted to focus on FC Barcelona’s fixtures and successes, with the aim of helping his club win again. La Nouvelle Tribune notes that Barça were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and then by Real Madrid in the Clásico, two defeats that have heightened expectations around the forward.

The player intends to continue his progress and string together top-level performances to maintain his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or one day, according to Senenews and La Nouvelle Tribune.
