The referees suspended São Tomé and Príncipe’s football championship matches on Saturday to protest against the non-payment of their allowances by the São Toméan Football Federation. They did not turn up at any ground, preventing, among other fixtures, the 21st-round match between 6 de Setembro and Juba de Diogo Simão, the STP-Press news agency reports.
Their absence forced the two teams and National Police officers to leave Quartel Stadium, where the public had begun to gather. The affected matches were for the penultimate round of the first division, according to STP-Press.
