Santoméan musician Admilton Oliveira, known as Adi d Son, has been developing a repertoire inspired by local traditions since 2022. His album “É mi ke Djon” addresses marginalised young people, and the artist is relying on social media to promote his work, according to Anacao.

Santoméan musician Admilton Oliveira, known as Adi d Son, champions traditional music and has released the album “É mi ke Djon”. He describes the record as a portrait of young people from outlying neighbourhoods, who lack opportunities and support but are determined to succeed.

A composer, singer and guitarist since 2022, Adi d Son says he began composing after a friend who was travelling left him his guitar. He names Orlando Pantera, Princesito and Djeka among his main influences because they are rooted in the same traditional styles.

The artist says the main challenge in his career is making his work known and winning over the public. He is relying in particular on social media to do so and encourages young people to pursue their dreams despite the difficulties.
