Egypt and Germany signed two agreements aimed at strengthening skilled-worker mobility and vocational training at the opening of the “Terminal Europe” labour mobility forum on 27 October. The first document links Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates with Germany’s Federal Employment Agency, while the second brings the ministry together with Siemens Healthineers to train radiology technicians, according to Daily News Egypt.
The memorandum provides for cooperation on the organised mobility of workers, the exchange of expertise and vocational training. The agreement with Siemens Healthineers aims to improve the quality of training in the health sector. Germany’s ambassador to Egypt, Jürgen Schulz, attended the ceremony.
Egypt ranks sixth in the world for applications to have professional qualifications recognised in Germany, according to Christian Grün, head of the Development and Cooperation Department at the German embassy in Cairo. These applications rose by nearly 90% in 2025, as Germany faces labour shortages, particularly in hospitality and skilled trades.
The forum presents Egyptian candidates with the procedures needed to legally access employment in Germany and other European countries. It follows Egypt’s signing of the agreements for a $650 million solar project, a separate deal announced on 27 October.
