The Democratic Republic of the Congo presented its governance reforms and economic opportunities to British investors at the UK-DRC Economic Forum in London. Communications and Media Minister Patrick Muyaya said, alongside Industry Minister Julien Paluku, that he had outlined measures to improve public administration, fight corruption and strengthen the business climate, according to a post published on Wednesday on his social media accounts.
Muyaya acknowledged the persistence of several challenges while saying that the Congolese authorities were determined to address them. He called on British businesspeople to take an interest in the Congolese market now, citing the economic opportunities that Kinshasa wants to promote. The minister also said that the international perception of the DRC was changing under President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi and the government led by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa.
The presentation came after the launch, on 24 October, of an industrial roadmap in the DRC, followed by the presentation of a $24.8 billion 2027 budget on 29 October. The government also allocated 14,091 billion Congolese francs to security in the budget, according to a presentation published on 1 November.
