The English FA confirms Arsenal youngster Max Dowman’s red card after the club appealed his dismissal against Fleetwood Town in the League Cup. The 16-year-old midfielder will serve a three-match suspension for violent conduct, starting against Liverpool, reports Agence France-Presse.

Arsenal have lost their appeal against the red card given to Max Dowman during their elimination in the last 16 of the English League Cup against Fleetwood Town. An independent commission rejected the club’s arguments over the sending-off and the severity of the punishment, the Football Association (FA) announced on Thursday, according to AFP.

The 16-year-old attacking midfielder was sent off in the 85th minute for kicking Harrison Neal after a strong tackle. Arsenal were subsequently eliminated on penalties after the match ended 1-1.

Max Dowman immediately begins a three-match suspension for violent conduct. He will notably miss Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. The London club, the reigning English champions and level on points with Manchester City, will seek to recover at Anfield after the elimination, already reported during the appeal against Max Dowman’s red card.
