The ADC party accuses President Bola Tinubu of offering Rivers State only six months of emergency rule, which suspended local democratic life, before coming there to seek votes for 2027. Its publicity secretary, Chizy Enyi, says Tinubu had not visited the state since his election in 2023, according to Daily Post Nigeria.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), a Nigerian opposition party, says the only benefit Rivers State received under President Bola Tinubu was the six-month state of emergency imposed on the state. Its publicity secretary in the state, Chizy Enyi, made the accusation on Sunday in a video posted on Facebook.

Chizy Enyi also accuses Bola Tinubu of not having visited Rivers since his election as president in 2023, either personally or through a representative, until his recent visit. The Nigerian president travelled to Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers, on Saturday for an election rally ahead of the 16 January poll, according to Daily Post.

According to Chizy Enyi, the state of emergency deprived Rivers residents of six months of democratic government. He says Bola Tinubu returned to the state to seek votes as the 2027 general election approaches.
