Nigerian actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, known as Baba Ijesha, claims that prison is the place where prayers are most answered, and links many sudden deaths to the prayers and curses of inmates. He was speaking in an interview with Dele Adeyanju on Agabletu TV, posted on the television's YouTube channel on Sunday.

Returning to his detention several months after his release, the Nollywood actor calls the experience "bitter", claiming he was used as a scapegoat. "Young people must be careful in their relationships. What you think cannot land you in prison can land you there," he warned. He maintains that he lived the life of an ordinary inmate despite his fame, and says some warders are harsher than police officers.

Baba Ijesha also claims that about 65% of inmates are innocent, citing the case of a man nicknamed "No Case" at Kirikiri prison, and calls on judges and lawyers to listen to their stories. He also recounts having discovered in detention people who were believed to be abroad, as well as powerful men treated as ordinary inmates.
