Nigerian music producer Alexander Uwaifo, known as Andre Vibez, believes artists need strong mental preparation to withstand the pressures of the music industry. The producer and judge on Next Afrobeats Star also calls on young artists to develop their own musical identity, remain consistent and persevere, in an interview with Sunday Scoop reported by Punch.

Andre Vibez believes talent alone is not enough to sustain a career in a highly competitive industry. He explains that imitation can be a learning stage before artists seek to distinguish themselves through their own sound. As a judge on Next Afrobeats Star, he also says he looks for contestants whose performances improve and who show commitment during the competition.

The producer also cites lack of funding, limited promotional opportunities and strong competition for public attention among the difficulties faced by emerging artists. In his view, technology has made music production easier, but young musicians still need financial resources to promote their work, produce quality content and reach a wider audience.
