About 45,000 Burkinabè nationals are estimated to live in Guinea, while only 350 are registered with the Burkina Faso embassy. The figure of more than 40,000 people recorded in Kourémalé includes several nationalities and therefore does not correspond only to Burkinabè nationals, according to Guinee360.

About 45,000 Burkinabè nationals are estimated to live in Guinea, according to data provided by the Burkina Faso embassy in the Republic of Mali. Of these, only 350 are registered with the embassy, according to the same source.

Guinea is the country in the embassy's jurisdiction that hosts the fewest Burkinabè nationals, according to consular data. A large part of this community works in artisanal gold mining, which has been directly affected by the recent closure of mining sites in the Siguiri region.

The figure of more than 40,000 people recorded at the Kourémalé border by Malian authorities includes several nationalities, notably Burkinabè, Ivorian and Malian nationals, according to the Malian government. It therefore does not allow the entire number to be attributed to Burkinabè nationals.

These data come as Burkinabè leaving Guinea seek to return via Bamako, while nearly 80,000 people enter Mali from Guinea, according to figures published on 5 and 6 November 2026.
