A decree signed by Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya retires army, navy and National Gendarmerie officers and non-commissioned officers. The measure concerns military personnel aged between 50 and 65 or with 40 years of service, according to Guinee360.

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has retired several members of the army, navy and National Gendarmerie. The decree, read out on national television on Tuesday 3 November 2026, concerns senior officers, junior officers and non-commissioned officers, according to Guinee360.

The departures are based on the age limit or the statutory period of 40 years of service. In the army, those affected on grounds of age are between 50 and 65, including Brigadier General Michel Ange Bangoura, aged 65. Two navy officers, Captain Mohamed Salifou Conté and Lieutenant-Colonel Mamoudou 1 Dramé, are aged 63.

The National Gendarmerie is also affected, including Colonels Sèduba Kombassa, Omar Nyassa, Ali Camara and Abdel Kader Mangé Kamara. Four of its lieutenants — Aïssata Keita, Ousmane Camara, Kéka Tousouma and Jeneviève Gilavogui — have completed 40 years of service.

The military personnel concerned will receive three months’ leave, from 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, to prepare their pension files, according to the decree. The measure comes after the dismissal of 34 military personnel for desertion and that of 39 other military personnel, including two members of the special forces, announced on 29 October.
