Doumbouya announces regularisation of two land areas in Guinea

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya announces the regularisation of occupants in Simbaya-Wanindara and Kassa Island after the reserves were downgraded on 16 October. He also promises roads, schools, health centres and sports facilities, according to Guinee360, citing his 24 October message.

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya announced on Saturday 24 October measures to regularise land tenure for occupants of the Simbaya-Wanindara and Kassa Island reserves, as well as development works, according to Guinee360.

The planned infrastructure includes roads, schools, health centres, sports grounds and playgrounds. Doumbouya also assured that the cases of other people facing land-related problems in Conakry and the rest of the country would be examined “with rigour and fairness”.

The decree downgrading the status of the two reserves was issued on 16 October. The new announcement comes after the justification for downgrading the land status in Simbaya, published on 24 October, and follows the downgrading of more than 750 hectares announced on 17 October.
