Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has dismissed 22 territorial administrators from the civil service and the Defence and Security Forces. The decree accuses them of facilitating illegal gold mining in Siguiri and degrading land, water and natural resources, according to Africaguinee.

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has dismissed 22 territorial administrators serving in the Siguiri region, accusing them of facilitating illegal and artisanal gold mining. The presidential decree was made public on Tuesday 3 November 2026, Africaguinée reported.

The officials concerned, including Siguiri prefect Colonel Fadjimba Mara and prefects and sub-prefects from several localities, have been removed from the civil service and the Defence and Security Forces. The decree also blames them for environmental degradation and the destruction of arable land, water resources, wildlife and flora.

The measure comes after Guinea banned gold mining in Siguiri’s waterways on 2 November. The government had thus targeted mining activities carried out in the region’s aquatic environments.
