ActionSA’s candidate for mayor of Tshwane, Nasiphi Moya, has pledged to create jobs and encourage investment if her party wins the municipal elections scheduled for the following week. She made the commitments at the party’s final campaign rally in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, according to SABC News.
The programme announced for the next five years includes helping businesses grow, making it easier for entrepreneurs to operate, and supporting township businesses and informal traders. Nasiphi Moya also wants to connect young people with training, work experience and jobs. She identified basic public services as another priority, alongside investment, infrastructure maintenance and greater accountability from authorities.
The pledge comes after parties disagreed over municipal coalitions in Tshwane, as reported on 29 October. South Africa’s municipal elections are taking place with 83 parties contesting in Johannesburg, according to a report published on 30 October on the Johannesburg municipal elections.
