South Africa set Australia a target of 288 in the third and final cricket Test between the two teams in Cape Town after being bowled out for 387 in their second innings, SABC News reports. The Proteas reached that total on the fourth day of the match, thanks to centuries from Ryan Rickelton, who scored 101, and Wiaan Mulder, who made 115.

Rickelton and Mulder put together a second-wicket partnership of 154, allowing South Africa to move from 202/5 to 294/5 before the tea interval. After Rickelton was dismissed following a misunderstanding, the Proteas lost four wickets for just 16 runs and fell to 351/9. Mulder nevertheless reached his century with help from Kagiso Rabada before becoming the last player dismissed, according to SABC News.

The performance extends South Africa’s fightback, which began at 140/4 the previous day, in this Cape Town cricket Test. It follows the 154-run partnership produced by Rickelton and Mulder, reported on 30 October.
