The United States is imposing new visa restrictions on people accused of organising, promoting or financing migrant caravans heading towards its southern border. More than 15 individuals had already been sanctioned the previous week, according to the US State Department, which is also warning foreign officials involved.
The US administration has announced visa restrictions targeting more than a dozen people accused of organising, promoting, supporting or financing migrant caravans heading towards the United States’ southern border. The measure also applies to foreign officials involved, according to State Department spokesman Thomas “Tommy” Pigott.
US authorities say several of those sanctioned recruited, coordinated and led large groups of migrants through Central America and Mexico. More than 15 people had already faced similar sanctions the previous week, according to the State Department.
The State Department says unauthorised entry across the southern border can lead to arrest, detention, removal and a subsequent ban on entering the United States. The announcement follows the revocation of 2.2 million legal statuses by the Trump administration on 30 October 2026.
