APC officials in south-western Nigeria have pledged to strengthen party unity and mobilise support for Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. Meeting in Lagos, they called for divided members to reconcile, according to P.M. News.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), the party of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, in south-western Nigeria has pledged to strengthen the unity of the party and mobilise support for his re-election in 2027, P.M. News reports. They made the commitment at a meeting held in Ikeja, Lagos State, by the stakeholder mobilisation directorate of the APC presidential campaign council.
The meeting brought together officials from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states. Former Lagos governor Babatunde Fashola called on disgruntled members to reconcile, saying internal divisions could weaken the campaign. He also urged the party to mobilise new voters and those who had become disengaged from the electoral process.
Former Ondo State governor Olusegun Mimiko acknowledged the economic and governance challenges facing the Tinubu administration, while saying that some policies were beginning to produce results. He particularly cited measures aimed at making the academic calendar in higher education more predictable.
The initiative adds to support for a new Tinubu candidacy expressed in other regions. On 1 November, officials in south-eastern Nigeria backed his re-election and that of Vice-President Kashim Shettima in 2027, while on 3 November the vice-president defended the president’s economic reforms in Calabar, Cross River State.
