Super Falcons players have begun receiving the equivalent of $100,000 each, while coaches and officials are receiving $50,000, following Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title in 2025, according to Vanguard, P.M. News and Bénin Web TV. The payment, totalling about 140 million naira, comes 16 months after Bola Tinubu’s pledge, P.M. News reports. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade thanked him for keeping his word.

The pledge covered 24 players and 11 members of the technical staff. Housing allocation documents and certificates of national honours had been handed over before the payment, Bénin Web TV reported, citing National Sports Commission chairman Shehu Dikko, who said the financial commitment had been fully honoured.

The payment was processed with the support of Nigeria’s ministries of Finance, Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Housing and Urban Development, according to the commission as quoted by Bénin Web TV. This settlement follows that of the D’Tigress, African basketball champions in 2025: their players received the equivalent of $100,000 each in September 2026, while members of the technical staff received $50,000.
