Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has promised Bola Tinubu a sweeping victory in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. He called on voters to support the president and all APC candidates at a rally in Calabar, Vanguard reports.

Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has promised that voters in his state will vote overwhelmingly for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. He spoke on Monday in Calabar at a rally of the APC, the ruling party, Vanguard reports.

Bassey Otu called on residents to support Tinubu’s re-election and APC candidates. He said voters had been consulted and that their mobilisation should increase the number of votes won by the party in the state. He attributed this commitment to what he described as the positive effects of the Tinubu administration on Cross River.

The APC’s national chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, defended the head of state’s economic programme, which he said aims to create a $1 trillion Nigerian economy by 2030. He cited in particular the planned transformation of Calabar port into a deep-sea port and the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, as well as rail and road links to Calabar.

The APC campaign in Calabar had also prompted a statement from the vice-president. Kashim Shettima defended Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms ahead of the 2027 election.
