Burkina Faso’s Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Adjima Thiombiano, warned new diaspora baccalaureate holders that denigrating or disruptive behaviour would not be tolerated at universities. He spoke on 2 November 2026 in Ouagadougou, during the national flag-raising ceremony, according to Netafrique.
The minister was responding to comments posted on social media by recent baccalaureate holders from the diaspora. He said students who came to Burkina Faso with good intentions would be welcome, but threatened to exclude from campuses those who came to denigrate the country or challenge the work done in higher education.
Adjima Thiombiano also reaffirmed the authorities’ support for the NEKRÉ Pact, launched on 17 October 2026 in Kaya to guide the reform of higher education in Burkina Faso.
