Burkinabè author Aminata Nombré presented her collection of short stories, “Les grâces du revers”, on Saturday 31 October in Ouagadougou. The book, comprising five stories, centres on resilience and explores entrepreneurship, family relationships, grief and inner turmoil, Burkina 24 reports.

Aminata Nombré said she wrote the book after supporting people in difficulty. She wants to offer readers encouragement and the strength to get back on their feet after hardship. In her view, every reader should be able to recognise part of their own experience in the stories and find a reason for hope.

The ceremony’s patron, Fanta Compaoré-Kafando, praised the range of themes and urged the public to buy the book. She also suggested publishing an electronic version to make it more accessible. Artistic patron Saturnin Mila also called for support for the collection, according to Burkina 24.

The presentation took place three days after the publication of Vanessa Touré’s first book in Ouagadougou, on 28 October.
