Sierra Leone’s Bar Association will restrict its general assembly and elections to members who paid their fees and conference costs by 29 May 2026. Voters must appear on the verified register, show identification and vote by secret ballot without proxies, according to Sierraloaded.
Sierra Leone’s interim Bar Association body has set strict criteria for taking part in its general assembly and elections, scheduled for 26 October. Only members who paid their membership fees and conference fees by 29 May 2026 at the latest will be allowed to vote, according to an official notice published on 25 October and signed by its president, Osman Kanu, and secretary, Menisa Sesay.
Members will have to provide a bank statement or payment slip as proof. Each voter must appear on the verified list and present valid identification. The vote will be held by secret ballot, with one vote for each contested position; proxy voting is prohibited.
The body said the electoral rules must comply with a court ruling. The counting will be overseen by electoral officials, with accredited representatives of candidates possibly present.
