Ghana may revise the law establishing GoldBod, the public body responsible for the gold sector, if its implementation reveals shortcomings, Isaac Adongo, chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, said on Joy News. He defended the law’s passage despite opposition reservations about some of its provisions.
Isaac Adongo said the opposition did not reject the principle of the law and could support its revision if the government returned to Parliament with amendments. He also said the Finance Committee generally worked across party lines, citing former Finance Minister Amin Adam and MPs Stephen Amoah and Gideon Boako.
