Sierra Leone’s Kingharman Maternal and Child Health Hospital has received an equipped maternity room and advanced neonatal equipment donated by Solthis. The handover supports the national “300 Days of Action” campaign for maternal, newborn and child survival, according to the Ministry of Health.
Solthis has donated an equipped maternity room and neonatal equipment to Kingharman Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Sierra Leone. The donation was received by the Ministry of Health, through its Directorate of Hospital and Ambulance Services, according to Sierraloaded.
The equipment is intended to improve the safety of births and care for newborns at the hospital. Dr Hoddy, Kingharman Hospital’s medical director, said private spaces had been repurposed to allow the maternity unit to be installed, a decision intended to prioritise maternal care.
Ibrahim Foday-Musa, director of the Ministry of Health’s Directorate of Hospital and Ambulance Services, praised partnerships between the authorities and private organisations for helping to address gaps in infrastructure and care. He called on hospitals to strengthen their capacity to accommodate pregnant women and children under five, as well as infection prevention and emergency preparedness.
Solthis, an organisation working to improve access to sexual and reproductive health care, reaffirmed its support for the ministry, with a particular focus on adolescents and young people. The donation supports the government’s “300 Days of Action” campaign for the survival of mothers, newborns and children.
