Former Mbabane Highlanders and Kaizer Chiefs winger Abel “Chacklas” Shongwe has urged young footballers in Eswatini to work hard, respect their teachers and coaches and continue their education. He was addressing the best players and sports teachers from the 2026 KFC Scara Thindwa Soccer Foundation tournament at a dinner held on Friday evening at the Southern Sun Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg, the Times of Eswatini reports.

Shongwe, who runs a football academy in South Africa, reminded them that talent alone was not enough and that an opportunity could arise at any time. The young people were taking part in an educational tour of Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena, where they met the founder and chairman of the South African club, Kaizer Motaung.

The programme was due to continue with a visit to FNB Stadium to watch the Soweto derby. The participants were accompanied by Nigel England, KFC Eswatini’s chief executive officer.
