The Senegalese Agency for the Development and Promotion of Coasts and Tourist Zones (Sapco) has completed most of the work under its responsibility at the Saly Beach Ouest site, which is due to host six disciplines at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Teams cleared the site, cleaned the beach and sifted the sand, according to an interview with its director general, Babacar Mbengue, published by dakar92.
Sapco was responsible for developing and managing its area, while the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (Cojoj) is overseeing the operational preparation of the competitions with the relevant federations. Organisers are continuing installations and final adjustments at the Saly seaside site, which Babacar Mbengue visited on 25 October.
The public company wants hosting the events to serve as a lever for the sustainable transformation of Saly and the Petite-Côte. This stage follows the announced completion of the preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games on 20 October, and comes as President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has called for a lasting economic legacy for the event.
