Olam Agri plans to commission a 300,000-tonne poultry feed plant in Cameroon in early 2028. The project is part of a programme involving about $400 million in additional investments in food processing and animal feed in Africa by 2028, according to Bloomberg cited by Investir au Cameroun.

Olam Agri, the Singapore-based agro-industrial group, plans to establish a poultry feed manufacturing plant in Cameroon with an announced capacity of 300,000 tonnes, with commissioning planned for early 2028. The project was confirmed on 5 November by Saurabh Mehra, head of Olam Agri’s food processing and animal feed activities, in an interview with Bloomberg, Investir au Cameroun reports.

The Cameroonian project is part of a programme involving about $400 million that the group plans to invest by 2028 in food processing and animal feed manufacturing in Africa, notably in Cameroon, Nigeria and Ivory Coast. Olam Agri also plans to increase its pasta manufacturing capacity in Ghana, according to Investir au Cameroun.

These investments would be added to the approximately $115 million already allocated by Olam Agri to its processing activities in West Africa since 2024, according to the group cited by Investir au Cameroun. No breakdown by country has been provided.

In Cameroon, Olam Agri would enter a market where the Noutchogouin Jean Samuel (NJS) group already operates a feed plant in Olembé, near Yaoundé. Inaugurated on 24 April 2024 by its Provenderie du Centre subsidiary, the facility has an announced annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes and represented nearly 5 billion CFA francs in investment, according to the Ministry of Livestock cited by Investir au Cameroun. Olam Agri’s announced capacity is higher in nominal volume, but the two facilities do not cover exactly the same categories of feed.

The announcement comes two days after Olam Agri launched an animal feed plant in Nigeria, announced on 5 November 2026. It is part of the group’s regional expansion of its food processing and animal feed activities.
