SEEG plans rolling power cuts in Grand Libreville from 8 to 15 November 2026, with interruptions of about three hours due to works preparing the connection of Kinguélé Aval. Available production will fall to 55 MW, against 94 MW usually, creating a 39 MW deficit at the evening peak, according to SEEG.

Grand Libreville will experience rolling power cuts averaging three hours over eight days, from 8 to 15 November 2026, due to preparatory works for connecting the Kinguélé Aval hydroelectric plant to the 225 kV transmission network. The Ministry of Universal Access to Water and Energy and the Gabon Energy and Water Company (SEEG) announced these operations on 8 November.

During the works, output from the Tchimbélé and Kinguélé hydroelectric plants will be temporarily limited to 55 MW, against 94 MW usually available, creating a 39 MW deficit at the evening peak. SEEG says thermal and solar production will be mobilised to the maximum to limit interruptions and avoid a collapse of the power grid.

The connection of Kinguélé Aval should eventually allow a more stable power supply, according to the Ministry of Universal Access to Water and Energy and SEEG.
