Work at the site, where concrete pouring began about a fortnight ago, now runs continuously in three eight-hour shifts, according to the management of Algérienne des Eaux de Mer.
The construction site of the Sidi Laadjel seawater desalination plant, in the commune of Khadra east of Mostaganem, now operates with three teams working in rotation on eight-hour cycles. Mouloud Hachelaf, deputy chief executive of the Algérienne des Eaux de Mer (ADEM) in charge of communication, told APS that the project had reached full pace after the first concrete pouring operation, launched about a fortnight earlier.
The project is expected to mobilise nearly 1,250 workers during peak periods. Its operation will then require more than 100 employees, while the execution plans provide for at least 30% national integration, according to Mouloud Hachelaf. The companies concerned want to raise this proportion above that threshold as the work progresses.
Meetings also covered constraints likely to slow the site and the schedule of the various stages. The plant's full commissioning is planned for 2029, according to APS.
