Algerian group Iris will assemble and market three ranges of Panasonic televisions in Algeria: the VIVID QLED, QD-MiniLED and Glare Free Ultra series. The partnership with Japanese manufacturer Panasonic was announced on 4 November, according to Maghreb Emergent.

The partnership provides for the transfer of engineering expertise and the adoption of manufacturing processes that meet Panasonic's standards, with the aim of incorporating more technological know-how into local industrial facilities, Maghreb Emergent reports. Iris intends to strengthen its capabilities in consumer electronics in Algeria.

This initiative is part of the Algerian authorities' policy to develop the household appliance industry, reduce dependence on hydrocarbons and increase non-hydrocarbon exports, according to Maghreb Emergent. The government is seeking in particular to strengthen the competitiveness of the 'Made in Algeria' label in foreign markets.
