The Coalition of Ogoni Youth Groups (COYOG) is calling on Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and the federal government to implement 20 recommendations from the dialogue on the future of the Ogoni people. It also wants the creation of Bori State to be central to the roadmap, according to a statement signed by 17 youth leaders and reported by This Day.

The coalition warned against politicians, privileged individuals and economic interests co-opting the process. It called on the federal government to formalise its commitments in an interim memorandum of understanding setting out institutional responsibilities, an implementation timetable, funding, monitoring mechanisms and public accountability requirements.

COYOG describes the dialogue as a process concerning justice, environmental restoration, political inclusion, control of resources and sustainable development in the Ogoni region. It says the sacrifices made by generations of Ogoni people must not be sidelined through unpublished arrangements or selective representation, This Day reports.
