North Korea fired several missiles towards the sea, South Korea’s military said, after rejecting US accusations implicating North Korean hackers in the theft of cryptocurrency from Binance. Seoul and Washington are analysing the launches, which could complicate a resumption of dialogue between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un.

North Korea fired several missiles towards its eastern waters on Wednesday 4 November, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said, as quoted by the Associated Press. South Korean and US authorities were analysing the projectiles’ characteristics and trajectory.

The launches came after Pyongyang rejected a resumption of dialogue with Washington. North Korea disputes US accusations attributing the recent theft of cryptocurrency from Binance, one of the world’s leading exchange platforms, to its hackers.

Seoul says it remains ready to respond to any provocation and is continuing military cooperation with the United States. Observers believe Pyongyang is seeking to pressure Washington to change its policy and offer concessions before a possible resumption of talks on denuclearisation and sanctions, the Associated Press reports.
