Nigerian youth back civil defence chief Ahmed Audi

The Patriotic Nigeria Youth Forum backs Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and rejects calls for his departure. Its coordinator calls for any challenge to be based on verifiable evidence, reports Vanguard.

The Patriotic Nigeria Youth Forum (PNYF), a Nigerian youth organisation, has renewed its confidence in Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and called for an end to campaigns demanding his departure. The forum believes a change in leadership could disrupt reforms and the protection of critical infrastructure, according to statements by its national coordinator, Olamide Odumosu.

During National Youth Day 2026, Olamide Odumosu called on people challenging Ahmed Abubakar Audi’s record, including Deji Adeyanju, to present verifiable evidence rather than taking action that could distract the NSCDC from its missions. He attributed progress to the Corps in protecting oil and gas facilities, electricity networks, telecommunications infrastructure and other strategic public equipment.

The PNYF called for challenges to the Commandant-General to be addressed through constructive dialogue and evidence-based criticism. The NSCDC is also planning six agricultural bases in Oyo, according to an announcement published on 3 November.
