Favour Chinecherem, an 18-year-old Nigerian from Enugu State, has won a scholarship to study aircraft maintenance at the Eastwing Aviation Institute. She won the final of the second Southeast Aviation Summit/Eastwing Youth Competition, held in Enugu by the Eastwing Youth Foundation and the Eastwing Aviation Institute, Punch reports.
The competition brought together more than 50 young people from several states in south-eastern Nigeria. Its coordinator, Christian Agadibe, attributed Favour Chinecherem’s victory to her confidence, passion and determination.
The scholarship will give the winner training in a sector that extends beyond pilot careers. The institute said it was working with other institutions to make training tailored to the sector’s needs more accessible in the South-East.
