Police in Nigeria’s Nasarawa State have arrested three men after stopping their car in Lafia, Punch reports. According to command spokesperson Ramhan Nansel, officers checked the vehicle, a Lexus IS 250 without number plates, during a patrol in Bukan Sidi.

Police said Mohammed Nuhu claimed to be an official of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and produced an identity card that was allegedly forged. The driver, Mohammed Umar, could not satisfactorily explain who owned the vehicle, according to the spokesperson. The third man detained was Ibrahim Suleiman.

Police said the three suspects remain in custody while investigations continue. They also said Suleiman is believed to be associated with the Eiye confraternity, an organisation the authorities describe as illegal. The allegations are being investigated and the suspects are to be brought before a court, according to Ramhan Nansel.
