Three officials in the administration of Seyi Makinde, governor of Nigeria’s Oyo State, resigned on Monday: Budget Commissioner Ayobami Ojo, his adviser Adegbola Oyeleke and Sunday Falana, a member of the state electoral commission. The departures come as Makinde prepares his 2027 presidential campaign, Punch reports.
Three officials in the administration of Nigeria’s Oyo State resigned on Monday 2 November, according to newspaper Punch. They are Ayobami Ojo, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning; Adegbola Oyeleke, special adviser on the same portfolio; and Sunday Falana, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
In a letter to Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyeleke said he was no longer comfortable in the administration’s working environment. He added that the circumstances made it difficult to defend the aspirations of his fellow citizens while carrying out his duties. Ojo, whose resignation takes effect immediately, did not give a reason.
Falana also submitted his resignation in a letter dated 2 November. In October, the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, left his post after more than five years in office. The Director-General of the State Bureau of Public Procurement, Tara Adefope, then resigned. Makinde appointed Akinwole Akinwole to replace Ogunwuyi and Aderonke Adedayo to head the bureau.
