Mbabane Day brought families and music fans together at Coronation Park in Eswatini’s capital for a picnic and entertainment. The municipality wants to make the annual event a tool for cohesion and urban appeal, according to the Times of Eswatini.

Mbabane Day brought together families and residents from several towns in Eswatini at Coronation Park in Mbabane for concerts, food stalls and sporting activities, reports the Times of Eswatini. Held under the theme ‘Our City. One Community. One Day’, the annual event began at 11am and continued late into the evening.

Children played in the park while adults enjoyed meals offered by vendors and musical entertainment, notably by Bab’Dlamini. The programme also included golf, basketball, boxing, netball and rugby. A giant screen showed the Soweto Derby football match.

Mbabane Mayor Thulani Mkhonto and the municipal council’s chief executive, Gciniwe Fakudze, took part in the event. Fakudze said she was satisfied with the turnout, stating that participants had come from different towns across the country to celebrate the capital and community life.
