Marquardt to invest €52 million in Tunisia

By , based on Tunisia Online

German group Marquardt plans to invest up to €52 million to develop three production units in Greater Tunis and create more than 400 jobs. The investment is expected to increase the manufacture of high value-added automotive components and strengthen Tunisia’s integration into global supply chains, according to Tunisia Online.

German group Marquardt plans to invest in three production units located in Greater Tunis through financing of up to €52 million granted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. The programme is expected to create more than 400 jobs in the coming years, according to Tunisia Online.

The financing is intended in particular to increase manufacturing capacity for high value-added automotive mechatronic components and cover working capital needs linked to the expansion of Marquardt’s activities in Tunisia. Tunisia’s automotive components sector comprises nearly 300 companies and directly employs around 90,000 people. Its exports reached nearly 10 billion dinars in 2025, representing more than 5% of gross domestic product, according to figures cited by Tunisia Online.

The project also includes measures to support women’s career development, with women representing around 65% of Marquardt’s workforce in Tunisia, particularly towards technical and management positions. The financing will also support the installation of photovoltaic systems and energy-efficiency measures at industrial sites.

Alex Kremer, World Bank Group representative in Tunisia, said the country has the skills and industrial capabilities needed to strengthen its position in global production value chains, Tunisia Online reports.
