The Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance has sentenced to death by hanging a young man convicted of murdering a five-year-old girl in El Omrane El Aala, in the north-western suburbs of Tunis, the Tunisian website Babnet reports, as cited by Kapitalis. The child had been strangled before her body was hidden on the roof of a neighbouring house.

The incident dates back to 2 May 2025, during Ramadan. The accused, nicknamed “Ruby”, was found in Ettadhamen after an investigation was opened into the child’s disappearance. He reportedly admitted luring the girl to his mother’s home, then strangling her with a sock before wrapping her body in curtain fabric.

The sentence comes two days after a man was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a child in Tunis on 28 October, in another criminal case reported by Kapitalis. The earlier decision is covered in the life sentence for raping a child in Tunis.
