The police custody of Karamo Cissé Ndiaye, a suspect in Aminata Sy’s death, has been extended ahead of his presentation to the Saint-Louis prosecutor’s office. A reconstruction was due to take place in Podor, along with further interviews, as investigations continue, according to the newspaper Libération.

The presentation of Karamo Cissé Ndiaye, 35, a suspect in Aminata Sy’s death, to the Saint-Louis prosecutor’s office has been postponed until Monday 2 November to allow investigations to continue, the Senegalese newspaper Libération reports, as cited by Dakaractu. Investigators from the Saint-Louis Research Section obtained an extension of his police custody.

A reconstruction of events was due to take place on Saturday in Podor in the presence of the suspect and gendarmes. Investigators also plan to question Karamo Cissé Ndiaye’s marabout and one of his friends, according to Libération.

The extension comes after the findings of Aminata Sy’s autopsy, published on 30 October, established that she died by strangulation. It follows the launch of the search for the victim’s boyfriend, announced on 25 October in the case of the teenager’s death in Podor.
