The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority has sealed more than 45 buildings in the Ifako-Ijaiye and Eko districts for breaches of planning rules. The owners had already received enforcement notices that went unheeded, according to the agency, which cites in particular construction without permits, excessive density and unauthorised alterations.

The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has sealed more than 45 buildings in the Eko and Ifako-Ijaiye districts for alleged breaches of planning regulations, Punch reports. The operations were carried out on Wednesday in Ifako-Ijaiye and Thursday in Eko by the agency's monitoring and compliance unit.

In Ifako-Ijaiye, 25 properties were sealed for lack of a valid planning permit, excessive building density, unauthorised alterations, deviations from approved plans and construction without authorisation, according to a statement published on Thursday on the agency's Facebook page. In a second announcement on Friday, LASPPPA said that more than 20 other buildings had been sealed in Eko: 10 for non-compliance with approved plans, five for excessive density, five for alterations without permits, and the others for construction without planning authorisation.

The agency states that the owners and developers concerned had already received enforcement notices from their district office without complying. It invites them to go to the nearest district office or its headquarters, at Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, Ikeja, to regularise their situation. An agency official, speaking on condition of anonymity, says that monitoring and enforcement of the regulations are continuing on an ongoing basis.
